Hi everyone,

I would appreciate some advice regarding a crypto deposit situation with an online casino.

I accidentally sent stETH instead of ETH to a casino wallet. After contacting support, they informed me that the token is not officially supported on their platform, but they said they may be able to return the funds manually.

However, before processing the refund, they asked me to send an additional amount of ETH to cover the blockchain/network refund fee.

I would like YOUR opinion:

Should casino return the deposit?

Has anyone experienced something similar before?

Is it reasonable for the platform to request an upfront network fee instead of deducting it from the amount being returned?

At the moment I am trying to be careful and understand whether this is standard practice or something I should avoid.

Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, in my opinion, the casino should explain why it needs the upfront fee. Perhaps this situation is new to them too and they have not given it a deeper thought. I would also try to gather more information about the casino itself because, to tell the truth, crypto casinos are kind of their own.... Well, to be more specific now:

Should the casino return the deposit?

From a customer service perspective, ideally yes, especially if the funds have technically reached their wallet. However, from a terms & conditions perspective, they are often free to refuse if an unsupported asset was sent. Sending stETH instead of ETH is generally considered a user error.

That said, if support mentioned that a manual recovery may be possible, it could indicate that the tokens are visible on their side and potentially recoverable. However, it may be a positive sign that they are at least exploring a solution.

A few things I would personally check before sending any additional funds, though:

-Make sure the wallet address really belongs to the casino and matches the original deposit address.

-Confirm that you are communicating through the casino’s official support channels.

-Ask why the refund/network fee cannot simply be deducted from the amount being returned instead of requiring an upfront payment.
