Hej allihopa,

I really like your point of view, and thank you for sharing it here.

Do you have any rituals yourself, though?

Excellent post – very relatable.

My ritual is simple: I set a timer for 15 minutes. If nothing changes during that time (and usually it doesn't), I log out and close the site. It's harsh, but it saves my budget and my nerves.

And yes, losing streaks happen to everyone. You're not alone. The main thing is not to try to win it back the same day.

Good luck!

I’ve had days exactly like that, blackjack feels cursed and slots tease nonstop without paying. What helps me is setting a hard loss limit before I start. Once it’s hit, I’m out. Doesn’t always feel good, but it saves the bankroll.

I agree with setting a time limit and quitting regardless of win/loss. 15 minutes seems reasonable when playing table games, but could be too long for slots. An alternative could be quit after the number of rounds you have played.

Determine how much money you are willing to lose that day and split it into mini bankrolls. So for example if you are willing to lose $100, split it into 4 x $25 bankrolls. If you lose 1 bankroll, quit, exit from the casino site, don't leave it open. Do something else, go for a walk, play a non gambling game or something else you enjoy. After about an hour or more go back to the gambling site with your second bankroll and try again. Follow this process for all 4 mini bankrolls. This way your gambling is within reasonable limits that you can afford. Also set a profit target for each session, so you win sometimes and don't give it all back to the casino.

I think it's hard for some people to do this, it all depends on the person🙂

That’s an interesting perspective, but I agree with the comment below yours. Sometimes it can be hard to keep track of things.

Do you follow all the advice you’ve written here?🙂

I absolutely follow the advice I gave and more. I set aside a total bankroll of $1000. I aim for 3-5% profit of my bankroll and I will stop for the day when I reach it. I will play a maximum of 4 sessions, but have a maximum loss of 25% ($250) and won't play more that day if I lose it. So say I lose $250 and My bankroll is now $750, my stop loss for the next day is $185, and my profit target is 3-5% of $750.

I keep a record of my daily profit/Loss in a spreadsheet and built an app that helps keep track of my play, with a countdown timer, total games played, the number of wins and losses etc.

The only time I don't follow the advice quoted is when playing blackjack. I won't refuse a double or split if it is the correct play, even if it puts me above my maximum loss threshold. However, most of my play is on roulette and dice. I don't play slots ever.

I realise this requires a lot of patience, but I enjoy it and at least most days I am in profit from the previous day.

You've got it all figured out; it seems like you've really thought this through. So the more responsible the player is, the better, because they won't lose as much money. Of course, I hope you can keep this up for as long as possible.

Do you set a time limit for yourself, or is it just a loss limit?

Thank you Jaro. As I said I built an app to track my play which includes a countdown timer with an alarm. I usually set it to 15 minutes, but it depends on the game I am playing. When the alarm sounds I will stop play regardless of win or loss, but if I am in the middle of a progression, I will complete it before I stop. Below is an image of my app.

I wonder if that even exists, and if it really helps? Have you ever ignored your app?

That’s actually pretty interesting. So if it helps you in some way to play within the boundaries, I’ll give it a thumbs-up.
